Abstract: This paper deals with the damping of vibration of the system in the case when a pile is driven into or drawn out of the ground with a vibration hammer attached to a mobile crane. Vibrational characteristics of the whole system are found though finite element analysis of a simplified model of the system. Using these results, the optimum design of a dynamic damper mounted on the crane boom has been made for the vibrational modes.Theoretical results obtained on natural frequency and effects of the dynamic on vibration of the system have been found to agree well with those obtained by experiments using an actual machine, and validity of the simplified mode of the system and the design of the dynamic damper is confirmed .the application of the dynamic damper leads to about one-half reduction of the vibration of the crane boom without impairing working efficiency.
