Abstract: On the basis of the concept of an analog loading system utilizing a pressure control type hydraulic servomechanism as an active element, this paper describes: 1) the composition of an experimental system, 2) experimental results and considerations of them, and 3) results of discussion about evaluation of the analog loading system. This analog system, incorporating a pressure (force) control system, is intended to have the function of providing analog loading effects for various loads on machines and devices, such as springs, dash ports, weights, and also loads of arbitrary functional forms. The above-mentioned concept is embodied in the experimental equipment, which is composed of electrical and mechanical elements, including an extremely large underlap servovalve (prototype) for pressure control. Since the analog loading system is a force generating mechanism, experiments were carried out using a separate hydraulic servomechanism to drive the pressure control system, thus obtaining the static and dynamic characteristics with various sorts of analog loading function specified. Experimental data have been arranged on Bode charts in such a manner as to obtain an upper frequency limit for analog loading feasibility. The results show that the analog loading system thus developed can properly fulfill its expected function and is well suited for practical use in the future.
