Abstract: This research paper introduces a group theoretic method for describing bifurcation buckling behavior of dome structures. The categorization and description of bifurcation behavior of a hexagonal-shaped truss dome structure have insured the applicability and validity of the group theoretic method. The hierarchal framework of the bifurcation behavior is found to be analogous to the subgroup structure of a dihedral group.
