Abstract: This paper reports the flood plain analysis of the Songhuajiang River , China's third longest, where disastrous flood damage was incurred in the summer of 1998 In that flood, the inundation area around Dalai is identified analyzing the data of the satellite NOAA and then, together with the CIS data, the inundated water volume is estimated The second part of the paper reports the process and the outlook of the technical exchange activities in river engineering between China and Japan
